UK Healthcare M&A Update

UK Healthcare M&A regained momentum in Q2 2026, with 78 transactions completed or announced during the quarter, representing a 47% increase on Q1 activity and demonstrating the sector's resilience in a challenging economic environment. Strategic buyers remained the principal drivers of dealmaking, accounting for 86% of all transactions, while healthcare continued to attract investment on the back of strong demographic trends, essential service demand and long-term growth fundamentals.

The quarter was characterised by major pharmaceutical transactions, continued consolidation across health & social care, growing activity in healthcare IT and an increasingly active childcare market. From GSK's £7.95bn acquisition of Nuvalent to ongoing platform-building activity in care and nursery services, the report highlights a market where buyers remain selective but highly acquisitive when compelling opportunities emerge.
